How Much Is My Car Worth in Malaysia?

Illustration: service records and the car’s condition help explain its value.

You’ve looked after your car. So when an offer comes in below the prices you’ve seen online, it’s hard not to think: surely mine is worth more?

It might be. A useful way to judge your car’s value in Malaysia is to compare similar cars, then get offers after inspection. Here’s what deserves a closer look.

Don’t let one advert set your price

Two cars can look equally tidy and still be worth different amounts. Start with the same model, year, variant and transmission, then compare mileage, condition and location.

The highest advert is tempting. It tells you what the seller wants, not what anyone has paid. Look at several similar cars, comparing full prices and any warranty or extras.

An online estimate gives you another starting point. An offer after inspection is more specific to your car; check its written conditions before deciding.

A low offer deserves an explanation

You don’t have to jump straight into bargaining. Start with: “What’s bringing the price down?”

Dealers need room for resale costs and profit. Ask which inspection findings affected your offer, and use your service records and similar listings to discuss it.

Still unsure? Get another written offer after inspection, around the same time. Give both buyers the same details, including faults, accident repairs and modifications. That makes the comparison much more useful.

Check what you’ll take home

A good offer should also be clear about what you’ll receive. Ask for the sale price, any agreed costs and your bank’s confirmed settlement figure. For example:

Illustrative exampleAmount
Final sale priceRM42,000
Less: bank settlementRM28,000
Less: agreed selling costsRM500
Amount left for youRM13,500

Illustrative figures only. RM500 is an example cost, not a Mobee fee; it may not apply.

Your loan affects the money left for you, not the car’s market value. Check when payment is due, when the offer expires and whether deductions are already included.

Let Mobee help you put a price on it

You don’t have to work it all out from adverts. At Mobee Cars Malaysia, we help you start with an estimated range for your car, followed by a final offer after inspection.

There are no seller fees, and the choice to accept is yours. Inspections are free in Klang Valley, subject to availability. Separate transport or special transfer costs, if any, are confirmed before you agree.
