What to Prepare for a PUSPAKOM M.V.15 (Formerly B5) Inspection
PUSPAKOM's ownership-transfer inspection report is now M.V.15, formerly B5. Preparing for this appointment is separate from completing JPJ's ownership-transfer requirements. Check both before agreeing a sale deadline.
Confirm the inspection you need
Tell the inspection centre the vehicle's current registration, use and condition, and why it is being inspected. A standard transfer appointment may not cover an unregistered import, a change of use, modifications or other special circumstances. A private vehicle with road tax expired for more than three years falls under PUSPAKOM's Special Inspection guidance; twelve months is not a general B5 trigger.
Bring the correct documents and booking details
PUSPAKOM lists the original registration card or VOC for ownership-transfer inspection. Check that the vehicle details match the record. Keep your GiCheck confirmation, inspection type, centre, date and time available, along with the identification and any additional papers the centre requires for your case.
Who needs to bring the car?
PUSPAKOM allows the owner or a representative to present the vehicle. Enter the representative's details in GiCheck and ensure they bring their NRIC or passport. This permission is for the inspection; it does not authorise them to replace the owner in every JPJ transfer step.
Private individual biometric verification, company representation, overseas-owner certification and estate transfers have their own JPJ requirements. Arrange those separately. The buyer does not need to be assumed present at the inspection simply because a later transfer requires identity checks.
Prepare the vehicle without unnecessary work
Make registration, chassis and engine markings accessible and readable without altering them. Ensure the vehicle is safe to move and tell the centre about known modifications or record discrepancies. PUSPAKOM's preparation guide says to check legal tint compliance; do not automatically strip compliant tint. If unsure, have compliance checked and ask what evidence or approval applies to the vehicle.
Check charges and lawful transport
PUSPAKOM lists RM30 as the ownership-transfer inspection fee. Confirm the total payable, including any applicable booking, tax, mobile-service or reinspection charges. Do not present RM30 as a guaranteed all-in cost.
An appointment does not permit driving without valid road tax or insurance. Arrange suitable transport, or ask JPJ about an inspection travel permit and follow its insurance, route and date conditions. A permit does not make an unsafe vehicle roadworthy.
After the inspection
Check the result and vehicle details. Follow rectification and reinspection instructions if it fails. The dated PUSPAKOM notice sets M.V.15 validity at 120 days from 1 July 2026; complete transfer within the expiry printed on the report. A pass does not remove finance restrictions or guarantee mechanical condition.
Mobee's valuation inspection is separate from the statutory inspection. Eligible Klang Valley sellers receive a free Mobee inspection and pay no seller fees; confirm any coordination support and third-party charges with the team.
